Later on...

Hours had passed. The artificial sun was setting and already, several people had gone to whatever they made into a home since coming to Paixao. Despite the dwindling crowd, Urd decided to light the tiki torches. Holding out here hands, she seemed to weave the energy of the world into something tangible. Eyes closed, she softly gave her commands to the fire element, speaking the words out of habit even though they weren't necessary. Especially here. Around the perimeter of the party, the torches quietly sputtered into life, a gentle flame lit as if by an invisible hand. The warm glow cut into the cool shadows of the evening scene, adding peace to what had been a relatively exciting day.

Urd leaned back against one of the Grecian style pillars, the usual small, secret smile on her lips. Things had gone fairly well, she thought. Though the party technically wasn't over yet and anything could still go awry, she was satisfied. Humans (and, as it turned out, demons, talking animals and all manner of other beings) really did make some of the best party guests.

Lost in thought, the goddess watched the reflection of the torch flames on the water.
