Jack was a whole lot less enthusiastic about the meeting. Not that he didn't want to see her, he did and he just couldn't say no to her. But facing someone familiar, someone close, was hard. It was easier to pretend everything was okay on the boards and towards strangers who didn't know him. But Rose was a different matter.
Rose was someone he had a history with. The one where it had all started.
And so the facade was much more difficult to put on, it was cracked. Not so much as it was when he was facing Gwen, that had been one of the hardest things in his long life, but there was something distinctly off about good ol' Captain Jack. At least it helped he was meeting with Rose and not the Doctor, it made things a little easier.
He immediately spotted her once the train had arrived and he had gotten off it. Conjuring up a small smile (it was genuine but Jack couldn't help but feel guilty every time he let himself truly smile), he made his way over to her before stopping at her bench and saluting. "Captain Jack Harkness, reporting for shopping duty."
