Vyers opened the door to the apartment and looked around. So Laharl had wandered off after all. Well then.... it seemed there was nothing left to do now but try to get some sleep. It would do him well, he supposed.
He stopped as he reached Laharl's room, standing in the doorway and watching the boy sleep. He should have known that was where he was going to be. But there was littel that could be said now, was there? If he was asleep, he was asleep... Tomorrow then. He wouldn't wake Laharl up for something so hard (for them both) to talk about. Tomorrow, maybe.
But still he didn't know what to say. Would "It's all right" do? Or was that too little? At the moment, it hardly seemed to have a ring of truth to it, but that could have been the moment. And the way it sounded... No, it wouldn't do.
"How are you faring?" That had too obvious an answer to be anything but a foolish question.
"Will you be all right?" It was too easy to lie.
"I will be here for you." With how he had handled the situation before, he wondered if Laharl would even accept that.
A long, slow sigh escaped Vyers' lips as he rested his forehead against the doorframe. Why did they have to go through this again? It wasn't fair...
He stood there in silence for a few more minutes before beginning to turn away.
