Timon didn’t blame the Overlord, he knew he sounded strange. It was all strange to him too, though he was hardly as fazed by it. In fact, he had hardly thought about the entire ordeal before now. The Organization had done something to him, something that had changed him and had been it. Why they did it, how they did it, none of these questions had ever been raised. If not for the concerns of others he probably would have never thought of such things.
“I will never be mayor.” He replied in a cool matter-of-fact tone. “You of all people should know that, Laharl. I can never be a leader. I’m a meerkat and that sure doesn’t amount to much in this whole ‘Circle of Life’ thing. I’m a runt. What kind of leader would I be when I can’t even protect myself, never mind others?” The meerkat yawned then shifted into a more comfortable position. “You could step on me.”
