Birds of a Feather... [Complete]

Character(s): Rue
Content: Rue meets up with Duck, or so that's what she thought was going to happen.
Setting: Joutenheim, Paixao train stop, Cafe Ersesat
Time: Early Afternoon
Warnings: None

Rue was getting rather irritated with her choice of clothing. Granted, she hadn't actually been given any sort of warning that she would be whisked away to this place, but had she been she would have opted for more comfortable walking shoes. Holding her skirts, she also contemplated finding more suitable clothing than her dress. Certainly this place had clothing shops?

But would that mean admitting to herself she would be stuck here for much longer than she intended? Shaking her head, she continued towards the train station. Once she met with Duck she could sort out all of her questions.

After some time waiting at the station, Rue boarded the train (after much difficulty squeezing her dress through the door). It would take her some time to reach the correct stop, since the train would have to finish its route in Joutenheim before heading towards the center of Paixao.

Time seemed insistently slow while on the terribly noisy train. Rue tried preoccuping herself on her journal, searching the message boards for any useful information. If she was going to be here long (which unfortunately seemed to be the possibility), she needed to prepare herself for what this city had to hold.

Eventually the train stopped near Cafe Ersesat. Continuing on foot, Rue headed towards it. For a moment she stopped as she passed one of the glittering trees that sprouted up all around the city. She had read earlier that the foliage was fake, however, its leaves were often used as currency. Grabbing several, she continued towards the cafe.

Rue reached her destination, feet throbbing, as she sat herself in a chair at one of the tables by the window. In an attempt to pass the time, she flipped through the menu and idly wondered how exactly they measured her sort of currency.

Three hours went by, and no Duck. Rue felt embarrassment at her situation, no doubt causing people to think she had in fact been stood up. In a muted outrage, Rue slowly stood from her seat and left the cafe. She walked (almost stomped) back to the train station, despite the returning ache in her feet, and waited for the train's return.

During her bout of anger, a thought struck Rue. Maybe...something had happened to Duck? Suddenly Rue felt ashamed of her selfishness. Yes, that had to be it. Maybe...Maybe Duck was even in trouble! Panic started to root in Rue's stomach, though she refused to acknowledge it. Duck would be just fine on her own; she always had been.

But just in case, Rue typed out a message on the community board, telling Paixao's network of people to be on the lookout for Duck.
