The mage slowed once he was sure he was far enough away from the two, grumbling to himself the entire time. Damn them, damn their luck, damn it all! One of those spells should have killed them! They should have been burnt to a crisp! If only he'd been allowed a few more minutes... Then none of them could have stopped him. Then he would have been a god!
