A new show on the block [Active]

Character(s): Hades and party goers! A handful of natives, and later a crapton of Neoshadows.
Content: After the Doctor gets back from his trip to the church.
Setting: Ceu de Mouraria
Time: Evening; Week 2
Warnings: None at the moment. Will probably be later |D

OOC note (UPDATED): Okay, so, Hades has made his official introduction. Anyone that still wants to join is stuck outside (I’d like to think I gave folk plenty of time to join if they really wanted); characters can try to find a way in, but any doors are sealed shut and darkness is sort of flowing from them. Outside the main doors is a pair of panicky natives. Poor Paixaoans. Or whatever we call them.

Anyone who is still inside, you can’t get out until Hades is satisfied just like people can’t get in. The ones who are more the ‘lighthearted’ and ‘good’ guys are obviously the ones getting more attention from the Heartless. Though if others join in to attack than hey, fair game. Unless you reek of darkness and more powerful than them *cough*Rozalin*cough* Neoshadows are more intelligent, after all. omg and they suck to fight, dammit CoM!

What can I say? Hades wanted a coliseum :| So I gave him one. :D;; Even if this isn’t quite the same. But ICly he has a goal in mind. *shrugs*

You can respond to Hades’ post, or start new comment chains. Whichever is… easiest.

Ceu de Mouraria seemed to be the perfect place to hold a party – at least, that was how Hades found it. All he really wanted was the space; the more guests, the better, eh? And by the sounds of things… he was attracting a decent turnout. He wondered how many of them really knew the event as a ‘trap’ and how many were just too damn naïve to keep up with the times. Either way, he didn’t mind too much, as long as they came.

Courtesy of the ever lovely and fascinating (oh, how she proved the easily changing allegiances people could have) Rosemary, secretary to Paixao’s former mayor, he enlisted more ‘help’ from the citizens that already worked at the opera house. They were the ones who stood outside, welcoming guests within – smiles and youthful faces as always – and moved around the inner parts of the venue offering drinks (alcoholic, of course) and small finger-food from a local café. Really, Hades might actually owe Rosemary a thanks or two.

And if asked about the drinks, whether or not they were poisonous, any of the citizens were willing to take a drink of one just to prove their safety. Hades wasn’t about to kill anyone, after all. He would play the ‘good’ host at least for now; let as many people in as possible, then make his grand appearance and let the real show begin.

He could hardly maintain his excitement.

Jazzy music filled the building, circling around and filtering out to welcome guests to the inside…

Zidane stumbled to the side, drawing out his daggers with grit teeth and a swear. Well, he expected excitement, needed it even, so here it was. He sidled up towards the woman he had seen - a pretty sight for any eyes, if a bit rough around the edges. A challenge, maybe? Hmm.

"Now, a gentleman such as myself can't simple leave a beautiful woman all on her lonesome," he quipped, a lazy, charming grin crossing his face. He ducked around to her side, cutting into a Neoshadow. They seemed indifferent to him, but like hell it meant he wasn't going to get in on the action!

He whistled at the woman's guns... interesting indeed.

Naja scoffed at Hades' appearance; a flashy show she could appreciate some, but the doors slamming closed nearby and the darkness curling though the air made her annoyance flair. Sure, as the Heartless made their way into the audience, she began to get a good look at some of the guests' potential, but when the Heartless started to come near her, then she had a problem.

She slammed down Morgenstern into one, casting a Banish spell on it and giving a satisfied grin as it shrank away into the floor. If she could beat down the ones that came for her, she could continue to focus on everyone else.

But the shadowy creature wasn't down for the count, she realized, as it shot out from the floor again and knocked her into a wall. She dropped her glass, blinking and scowling darkly. "You're kiddin' me!" she snapped, crouching down into a fighting stance.

Now things were serious.

Static caught sight again of the guy on the stage and he looked pissed. He was also on fire and Static wasn't sure what to make of that...only that it reminded him of Hotstreak. So he had creatures like Ebon and a pissed off bluish looking guy who made Hotstreak look like a calm and controlled member of society.

He also noticed that the guy seemed to piss off Sora fairly easily. Knowing how personal vendettas could be Static just stuck to blasting Heartless out of the way with balls of electricity.

Hanekoma had seen through the dance from the get go. It might have been a fair enough performance to the untrained eye, but to someone like Hanekoma who's art was a part of himself, it's hollowness was as obvious as if someone had hung a neon sign over them. This wasn't art, just the motions of puppets bound by the strings of fear.

Leaning back against the wall he watched with interest as their host came out, his honeyed tongue full of veiled threats. To be honest, Hanekoma had heard better, though he did find Hades interesting. It had been a long time since he was in the presence of a god, and the mournful angry vibe the god of the underworld gave off was almost deafening.

Sighing Hanekoma finished his coffee as the Heartless spilled out from behind Hades. To be honest, the Heartless worried him even less than the god. Darkness was as much a part of the cosmos as light, and Hanekoma accepted that, although it saddened him to see all the potential of a person lost in a seething pit of raw desire.

He could probably wipe the entire lot out by himself, but that would be breaking the rules, and Hanekoma was already past thin ice on that regard. He wouldn't put it past his bosses to be watching right now. Still, he had to admit this show was a heck of a lot more exciting than the one proceeding it. Watching the swordsman take down the shadows, now that was art.

Still, Hanekoma couldn't help notice a Neo Shadow moving to attack the man from behind. He probably sensed it coming, but just in case, Hanekoma easily lobbed a refilled mug under hand, where it soared through the air and splashed on the creature, searing it against all logic.

The Heartless flailed and thrashed under the coffee, and Hanekoma gave up a silent prayer for the soul. Then, grinning up at Auron he said, "Always hate to waste good coffee, but sometimes one has to make sacrifices!"

Of course, the next second he had to casually tilt his head, letting the Heartless attacking him from behind sail past easily.

Rosette was discovering something very quickly: guns were terrible for close quarters fighting, especially when enemies moved this quickly and she didn't want to hit anybody else. She'd had to settle for very close range shots.

Like the one she took at the Heartless that had knocked the cat woman into the wall. The Heartless disintegrated, but it wasn't long before another took its place. She took a shot at it, then another at one that was closing in on her for the attack. "These things are a pain."

[identity profile] breakingapath.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Sora, don't encourage him!" Riku said in between Heartless, casting a shield over both of them as he attempted to destroy the creatures Sora had missed. He was torn between concern and annoyance; trust the other to get overly reckless at a time like this. He managed to break his way through to stand inches from the Keybearer, slightly out of breath. "Focus."

The dance was boring. Sonic had just been waiting for thing to actually get interesting around here.

When the creatures popped up, he couldn't say he was disappionted - just the opposite, actually. He'd gotten his wish and the guy in charge had shown up. Now he just had to get to the guy and-

Getting to the guy was proving to be the tough part. He was fast enough, sure, but it wasn't a straight shot - he had to either dodge or take down the creatures that got in his way, and they were everywhere, and he couldn't well run by someone who was getting attacked. After getting stopped for what had to be the tenth time, he shook his head in frustration and tapped into his power ring, setting himself up for a spin dash. Either way, he was determined to get to the front where the flaming guy was.

Lara eyed the other as she disposed of a few of those strange shadows, reloading quickly. "That's very chivalrous," she replied neutrally, "it's not too often that a gentleman stops by to help a lady in distress." Her words, of course, were in direct contrast to her actions, as the creatures attacking weren't giving her much trouble - and, indeed, appeared to only be concerned with Lara because she was in their way.

Even so, the explorer wasn't about to dismiss an implicit offer of help, not in a situation like this. "Are you going to allow me the pleasure of your name, or will I merely have to fend for myself in this matter, too?"

[identity profile] knuckle-headed.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Knuckles finally managed to say without stuttering, growling once more to cover up his extreme embarrassment. "Knock it off." He refused to back off, however, and just barely stopped himself from grabbing her wrist and twisting it. As annoyed with Rouge as he was at the moment, he wasn't about to attack her... but that might change if she continued.

[identity profile] knuckle-headed.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Knuckles hadn't even bothered to pay attention to the dancers. He knew there was something else going on here, and he wasn't about to let his guard down. He grinned when the shadow beings showed up and immediately dove into the fight, all sharp knuckles and strong fists. It looked as if this party wouldn't be a complete waste after all.

When he saw Sonic, he followed him, already having an idea as to what the hedgehog was doing. "Hey, Sonic," he called. "Don't hog all the action for yourself." He couldn't care less about the Heartless unless they attacked him - which some of them were, from time to time - and what he really wanted was for Hades' face to meet his fist.

"Maybe we'll draw the attention of something more fun," Larxene suggested as, finally drawing a kunai, she shoved the blade through the head of a neoshadow with one vicious downward thrust. "I suppose getting medals for defending the people would be asking for a bit much, hm?" She giggled, sending a handful of heartless sailing into the air with a blast of electricity.

Auron had sensed it coming, and it was as he turned to attack that Hanekoma tosses the mug of coffee the heartless's way. The ex-guardian finished the creature off with a quick strike, looking up as the man spoke and replying by way of a smirk. He was resourceful, a good trait to have, especially in a situation such as this.

The smirk fell shortly. "Stay close," Auron ordered as he cut down the heartless that the man had just dodged. Resourceful or not, Hanekoma was weaponless, and he couldn't throw mugs of coffee and dodge forever. He was calm in the midst of this chaos, which was good, but not good enough, and Auron would prefer that there were as little casualties from this fight as possible.

The swordsman looked out at the writhing black mass, leaping and dodging in some places, dissipating into black wisps in others, thick in some, thin in others... It seemed at least some of the guests were capable of defending themselves well enough. He glanced back at the doors. Shut tight and sealed, as to be expected with a trap. The boy he'd been talking to had joined his friend and, it seemed, someone else in attacking their host. Likely either he or all the Heartless would have to be defeated before they would be able to escape.

[identity profile] 11deadlypetals.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I imagine so," he replied coolly as he slammed the blunt end of his scythe into a nearby Heartless to knock it away before bringing the blade down on another, twisting it to better pull the scythe into a wide, horizontal strike against another group. "It's too bad, really."

[identity profile] brbstealing.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Fine, fine~" Her hand moved back to her side, albeit the movement was slower than it needed to be. She knew when to stop and that was about where the line should be drawn. For now, anyway. "I thought you'd be able to handle a bit of teasing."

[identity profile] mercurialectric.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose we could go for the main course," Larxene said with an offhand gesture to Hades (sending off sparks that took out more heartless as she did so), "but it seems the hero is already doing that."

She was referring to Sora and his little friends, of course. One of them she recognized as the keybearer's friend, the other Sora had probably picked up along the way. But it wouldn't do to draw quite that much attention, fighting the interlopers of city hall so directly, and so she called down a lightningstorm instead, thrilling as the heartless before her either died writhing or scurried along around her to escape and, consequently, ran right into Marluxia's line of sight.

"You've been coming across the wrong kind of guys then," he said with a grin. He was making damn sure he kept in the way of the Heartless, whether they liked it or not. Part of him felt like he had a score to settle against them.

He glanced away from the action to her and winked. "Call me Zidane. And the beautiful lady is...?"

"Whatever you say boss," Hanekoma said with an easy grin, adjusting his shades before slipping his hands into his pockets. Moving in an easy slouch he stayed near enough to Auron for the other man not to have to worry about him, but far enough away to not get in his way.

He calmly dodged every attack that came his way, seeming to know where they were coming in advanced. One managed to get in close when Hanekoma was in Auron's blind spot, and Hanekoma calmly lifted a leg, letting the Heartless slam into his sandal, causing it to explode in in a cloud of darkness. Looking over his shoulder, he couldn't help but admire Auron's skill. The man had a simple economy of motion that was art at its most brutally efficient.

Violence might have not been Hanekoma's forte, but he had to acknowledge it's artistic possibilities, even if he doubted a man like Auron would see it as so.

This certainly was turning into a very interesting evening indeed Hanekoma reflected as he bent out of the way of another attack, only taking a hand out of his pocket to retrieve another cup of coffee. At least it didn't look like he'd need to intervene quite yet.

Sonic threw himself forward in the dash, ricocheting quickly off half a dozen Heartless in turn before executing a perfect landing and glancing back over his shoulder at the echidna. "I'm not slowin' down for you!" he called back, grinning. "Keep up!" With that, he headed right back into the fray, always pushing forward to get to the guy onstage.

[identity profile] brbstealing.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
She had gone to the bathroom for not even five minutes and when she returned, things had taken a turn for the worse. Not only that, but Knuckles wasn't in the same spot she had left him in. Next time she was bringing a leash for the echidna.

Thankfully it only took a moment to find him and Sonic; amongst the shadows bright red and blue were hard to miss. Whatever the creatures were, they didn't seem overly attracted to her and the ones that came too close were easily taken down with a few hits to the face with her heels. The boys' goal was obvious and once she cleared the area around her, she flew up and over to them and landed a drill kick on a Neoshadow right in front of Sonic.

"Where are your manners? You shouldn't start a party before the lady arrives~"

[identity profile] keychainheart.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Sora growled and batted at the fireball with his keyblade even as he surged forward, and while it still scorched him the fireball didn't knock him back. If anything, he was only more determined to get to Hades and beat him down. Slashing an unfortunate neoshadow in half, he charged forward in a blind run.

"I stopped you before, I can do it again!" He pitched his keyblade at Hades like a boomerang.

[identity profile] 11deadlypetals.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Marluxia glanced over at the battle between Sora, the friends he'd picked up, and Hades before looking back over at Larxene. "I wouldn't want to deprive him of the honor of taking out the leader," he replied. "If he continues to fight, we'll see just what exactly he's capable of."

He debated further herding the Heartless the Keyblade Master's way, but thought better on it. There were too many people in the way that would distract the Heartless. Doubtful they'd make it to their target destination at all; it'd be a waste.

Marluxia put a little more power into the wave of energy he sent at the Heartless this time, and it continued through the group Larxene had sent toward him and into the mob of Heartless nearby, slicing a large hole in the mass.

[identity profile] notabattery.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"I always thought taunting was part of the gig," Static retorted, after all, generally if you pushed enough buttons the bad guy would snap and make a mistake. Granted you sometimes had to deal with the blows between then but as long as you didn't die it was alright.

Static formed another ball of lightening in between his hands before hurling it at more of the shadow creatures. He noticed Sora's keyblade take flight and smirked, deciding to help it a bit and zapped it with a charge, meaning whatever it hit was going to get a nice shock.

[identity profile] mercurialectric.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, of course, the hero must defeat the boss," Larxene purred, shifting a bit so she could watch Sora from a better angle. "He's so predictable."

It was obvious Hades was working him up, and Larxene could only laugh to see it, even as she embedded a kunai in a heartless's head. If he got angry he would get careless, and then he would die. But the little hero had gotten far enough in destroying the heartless that she doubted he would die tonight.

Not until he had worn out his usefulness, at least.

Riku was on Sora's heels as the other rushed forward, getting rid of any Neoshadows that were directly trying to attack them. He felt the darkness fluctuating as they moved, and the quick glance he managed to get of the room showed several other groups fighting off Heartless. Some of the people appeared familiar, and a nagging feeling grew in his mind.

Not now, he told himself. "Don't expect me to help you up if you trip!" Riku said to Sora, catching up and running beside his friend.
