Not terribly surprising, Lenne's attempts to attack the spawn with her staff was a good deal less effective than the spell had been, partly because as soon as the staff come within reach the spawn was already moving to wrap its tentacles around it. It had every intention of pulling the staff out of her hands, should it prove possible to do so.

And while most of its tentacles are working on that, there's still a few that are reaching out to ensnare wrists or arms.
