Another World, Another Fate [Complete]

Character(s): Furude Rika, Alice Liddle
Content: Rika enters Paixao.
Setting: Niflheim Gate
Time: Morning
Warnings: None

Unlike most who arrived in Paixao, Rika's first thought was that she must be in another world. It was a full five seconds, laying on the ground where she had fallen, before she realized that this was absurd. She had not died in the previous one; there was no need to move on to another. Furthermore, Hanyuu's powers of time travel had been worn thin. She sat up abruptly, eyes wide.

"Hanyuu!" Rika called.

And then she realized this was nothing like Hinamizawa. She sat before a large gate, all silvery ice, so much so it even looked cold. Beyond that, a village or city, she couldn't tell, which seemed to have been built inside a dome. A line of people--blond-haired and pale, all of them, how odd--waiting to go inside.

Hanyuu wasn't responding. Rika called again, waited. Nothing.

This was not Hinamizawa. This was a world far more peculiar than any of the ones she had been in. What was she to do here? She had to go home. She had just fixed everything there; everything was going to be okay. And now this? She felt like she was being toyed with.

What force was at work here, to bring her here? She did not know. But Furude Rika would find out. She stood, moved to the back of the line, waited her turn. A guard, as pale and blond as the rest of them, smiled down at her.

"Your name?" the guard asked as he put together some sort of package Rika could not see.

A moment's hesitation--people who appeared here were not considered strange? "Furude Rika, nipa~!" She smiled brightly, childishly.

The guard wrote something down--her name, presumably--and handed her a pale violet machine, along with a handful of brochures. "Welcome to Paixao! Here's your journal and information on the city. Enjoy your stay."

"Excuse me, but can you tell me how I got here?" Rika asked, keeping her innocent smile on her face as she accepted the items.

The guard was ignoring her; Rika recognized the way he made a point of looking intently at the next person in line, of writing the name carefully, of handing over the journal and brochures and moving on quickly. She had seen similar treatment of Satoko at home, before things had been fixed. The guards would be of no help--she would figure it out on her own, then.

She continued into the city, to see what fate had in store for her here--and to change that, if necessary.
