This doesn't look like Dracula's Castle... [completed]
Character(s): Mina Hakuba, random lumen, gatekeeper
Content: Entering Paixao in search of an errant Soma
Setting: Joutenheim Gate
Time: Early afternoon
Warnings: Unless blisters squick you, no.
The shining creature led Mina across one landscape after another, until it vanished not far away from a gate. There was a line of people waiting to enter the monumental confection of golden domes, most of them blonde and blue-eyed.
"Is he in here?" she asked, but her guide was gone and not going to answer. Instead, Mina calmed herself and focused, trying to sense Soma's familiar spirit. He was here. The miko sighed softly, rubbed her foot where she could feel a blister forming under the material of her socks, and hobbled into the line, well-enough accustomed to waiting despite being tempted to curse Soma for causing her so much trouble. She tried making small talk with the people around her, but they didn't seem interested in talking with her, and eventually she gave up.
"Name?" the gatekeeper asked her, nowhere near soon enough.
"Mina Hakuba. Has a man named Soma Cruz come through here-" but she was cut off by the rude thrust of a small computer at her.
"Thousands of people come through here, lady," said the gatekeeper brusquely. "And there are three other gates he might've gone through. The important thing is, welcome to Paixao, here's your complimentary electronic journal, and enjoy your stay. Next!"
So much for trying to get to know the locals... Mina sighed and continued on her way, picking up some pamphlets and scrounging through for a place where she could stay fairly cheap. Then she opened her journal-- like a computer, but one that had been designed specifically for web-logging. She put a note in it for Soma to find and walked off to find the hotel, limping slightly as that blister finally gave and put a small stain in her sock...
