That was really the only noticeable thing for several seconds, blinding and brilliant and fading almost as fast as it had showed up.
After that, pain was pretty much the only thing Hojo noticed. He'd popped into existence decently far from the massive, metallic gates, probably to compensate for the fact that he had, in being transported, been thrown out of a moving train. He hit the ground and skidded, badly scraping up one of his arms and probably bruising several other things. Really, he was lucky that was the extent of the damage.
Once the poor man stopped moving he sat up, slowly, pushing on his glasses mostly to see if they'd gone unbroken, which they had, luckily for him. Determining that nothing was broken, either on himself or in his messenger bag, he shifted, not even bothering to stand up yet as he took in the scene he'd been so rudely dumped into. A large crowd of people waiting to go enter something he couldn't see through all the people, towering fiery gates...
"Christ," he muttered, picking himself up off the ground with a wince and rubbing his bloodied arm. This was certainly not something he'd ever seen before.
