He hadn't gone far from the gate he'd entered, despite it being a week now since his own arrival. Subaru was restless, a bit paler than normal with hunger, but it was the restlessness that ate at him and drove him to move. This afternoon was no different. The sun would be just past it's zenith, and yet again Subaru was glad that the legends about vampires and sunlight were simply myths. He would have hated to be a completely nocturnal creature. Pleasant people tended to be out in the day.

Not that Subaru himself was a creature of light. But those were musings for another day. Shined black shoes clipped against stone roadways, and Subaru couldn't help a bit of marveling at this sector of town. If he wasn't so sure that this place was inherently dangerous, he could perhaps appreciate the beauty of it far more.

Too bad he couldn't stay. He could never stay. Staying in one place would allow Seishirou to catch up with him... he smiled a sad little smile at that. Would that truly be so bad? He knew the answer, but he allowed himself a few moments to believe differently. It was pleasant to pretend, sometimes.

He was careful to sidestep the young woman ahead of him, but he immediately sensed the pain. He turned his head, pausing, and looked her over. Narrowing brilliant green eyes, he felt his eyes stray to her wrist. Was she hurt? Was she new, like so many others?

"Excuse me," he spoke up. "Do you need a hand?"
