Gaston had been caught near the edge of the meteor swarm and beat a hasty retreat to safety as the rocks crashed down around him. He was narrowly missed by at least one huge rock, and he cursed inwardly at the lunatic girl that had apparently been the cause of the things in the first place. Who was she trying to kill, them or the stupid creatures!? There had to be a better way to take them out without wiping out everyone else in the vicinity!

Distracted as he was by the effort to not get squashed by a falling rock, the hunter almost didn't see the nobody weaving towards him. He noticed it out of the corner of his eye and turned, whipping up his pistol as it reached for him. Two things happened almost simultanously. There was the crack of gunfire, and Gaston was sent hurtling through the air.

His flight only lasted a moment or two. He hadn't seen whether or not he'd actually managed to shoot the thing, but in the brief time he was hurtling through the air, the hunter had himself fairly well convinced that he'd managed to get it. That gave him a little bit of satisfaction. At least, it did until he smacked hard into the ground and everything went black.
