Not all there.

Character(s): Alice?
Content: She arrives to the gates, a little more than confused.
Setting: Vanaheim
Time: Noonish
Warnings: Doubting of sanity.

It was the afternoon when Alice awoke, and the irony was so thick it was startling. Hadn’t she been asleep all those years ago under the sun when she first visited Wonderland, her curiosity getting the better of her? That seemed like such a long time ago, back when the sun seemed to shine a little brighter and she could walk about Wonderland and Looking Glass Land with her own logic as a weapon. It was a lot better than lodging jack in the boxes with explosives inside, or a Vorpal blade that could cut a demon in two. Those days seemed to hang in her mind more than Wonderland’s old days, even if she had restored the place to its former glory.

But where was she? Another part of Wonderland, even though she was sure she had braved just about everything the place had to offer?

Alice could have laughed. Was this her reward for barely surviving the Red Queen? It was unfathomable: then again, what weren’t these days? It made little difference where she was now, just another obstacle. She could have filled a book with the millions of things she’d faced, and now here was another volume. She held the Vorpal blade to her right knee: it was her own private security blanket, and she’d use it if necessary. This was no time to have dulled wits: immediate action might be necessary. She took her place in line, and in seven minutes had reached first.

"Name?"
"Alice."
"Off with your head."

Alice shook her head. "I beg your pardon?"

"I said, 'Here you are.' You’ll need a journal or you pay for one inside. Move along please. Welcome to Paixao."

The man looked impatient, but he did hold out a map. She took it eagerly and walked away from the man, still wondering why she had heard such a violent piece of dialogue.
This wouldn’t do at all, if the Red Queen was somehow still in her thoughts.

Alice shook her head dazedly. No going mad until you were at the thick of battle. That kind of madness was more useful then. That was fine, anyway. If she wanted answers, she’d just have to ask the inhabitants.

Where was this "Paixao" anyway? And how did one use this...device?
