There was a pause, but only a slight one. Valerie had a slight, very slight pang of relief. The thought of not fighting anymore, not pretending that she could win, was a point in the right direction, but something in her told her different. It wasn't something that she even understood or even knew, and when she spoke again, the words were so foreign to her she could barely comprehend they were coming from her to begin with.
Of course, the reason for that was all too clear: the voice coming out of her didn't sound like her at all because it sounded deep and mean. There was also the very strange yellow glowing in her eyes and angry grimace in her face that looked nothing like the gritty determination the girl had displayed a moment ago. This look was annoyed and bored, as if expecting Larxene to understand the fundamentals of toying with something that didn't belong to her.
"You don't get it either, Nobody. WE have her now, and we like it here. Fight is nothing but sport for us, or have you forgotten? We will not let this one go to the dust just yet. You remember how you liked the scent of darkness; she is only realizing she sought us out first. The only battle she will lose is the one that has her heart. We will make that victory ours."
Valerie paused and breathed hard, and now her memories were beginning to clear. She was beginning to see that night now, and what she had given to make sure he would not hurt. She was beginning to see the origin of what started this in the first place.
And she didn't like it.
"NO!" It was Valerie's voice now, choked with emotion, tears springing to her eyes. She had to get out of here, even if Larxene gave chase. She had to understand, she had to find a place where she could know what was happening to her. She jumped on the jet sled with power she barely knew she had and sped off, leaving the blond nobody still wondering why her prey had not stayed to be victim to Larxene's superiority.
But then, now Valerie had a whole new set of problems.
