So What Now? [Complete]
Character(s): Roxas, Dib
Content: The pair escape the chaos and violence at Paixao for Elysian Fields where they each discover something of interest to them.
Setting: Elysian Fields [D10]
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: Mild angst
Why did he keep running away? What was he really running from? The Dusks weren't something that should cause him even the slightest annoyance... or even make him think about petty things like this for that matter. He had arrived at a vast empty field of white grass. There was a barely noticeable breeze that swept the blonde's face: it was a pleasant feeling. It didn't calm him down but it was certainly much more comforting than what he felt in the city of Paixao.
Roxas shivered. It wasn't that it was cold... it was just...
Where in the world are you Sora?
If you're my Somebody, aren't you supposed to be somehow connected to me?
After a moment of musing, the Nobody took the liberty of taking several steps from the place that he "came from" and lay down, and closed his eyes. It was too quiet in this strange field: was it alright to even slightly relax like he was right now? At the thought, a pair of icy blue eyes was visible again. It was snowing here? Huh.. he didn't notice it before... Roxas lifted his arm in an attempt to touch an orb. It just scattered when his hand closed around it.

Dib began another bout of incoherency once he found himself in a place that was decidedly not where he had been a moment before. His derangement was further compounded by all the little white orbs that were falling from the sky. "AAAAAAAAAAAAGAAAAH!" he screamed, holding his hands over his head to shield his face from the aerial onslaught... that disintegrated harmlessly when they hit him. "...Oh. Heheh."
Once Dib noticed they weren't a weapon of some kind, he relaxed and lowered his arms. Now that he looked at them, the... things... were actually kinda pretty. "What are these?" he asked, gazing up at the sky. They almost seemed like balls of pure energy.

These orbs... they were... "Light." It made the blonde muse where in the universe he resided in: the light, the dark, or in between. Nobodies were supposed to be "in between" but then again, so far, he wasn't your average Nobody. He had no memories of his Somebody. And, he had a higher goal than the others-- Sora.

Dib's mind eagerly began to pick apart this new mystery. He spent a few seconds trying to catch one of the light-balls for closer examination, but that proved fruitless. Hmph. Fine then, be that way. Dib plopped down on the grass a few feet away from Roxas and gazed at the expansive fields surrounding them. "So now what?" he asked. After all, they couldn't just sit there.

"So now what?" The question was something Roxas yearned for an answer to himself. What was to come? When would he finally find the people he wanted? His Somebody, and maybe the Nobody called Namine... He left in a moment of silence until he finally answering, "Anything".

ANGSTturmoil, but Dib had never been empathetic and therefore didn't notice or care. "Anything. Riiight. Great." At least it was safe here. Since he had nothing better to do at the moment, Dib left a brief message for Lucifer (http://community.livejournal.com/paixaomb/34967.html#comments) in the hopes that the fallen angel would have learned something interesting. It was then that Dib realized he'd never really been outside Paixao up to this point. And since nothing was trying to devour him, maybe he'd best look around a bit more. Maybe he'd recognize something...? Dib stood again and turned in a small circle, observing the entire landscape around him. Grass, paler than any he'd seen before. Some trees - real trees? - off in one direction, a good half-mile away. The faint glitter of water could be seen in the other three directions, meaning they were on some sort of peninsula or maybe an island. "What is this place?" Dib wondered. He wasn't so much addressing Roxas as voicing his thoughts aloud.

The former Thirteenth pondered while tapping his all ten of his fingers on the surrounding grass. This whole world was probably simply an illusion. Something created from the technology of the Organization. And amidst it was his other half… No, that wasn’t right… He himself was the half… Amidst this illusion was the wholeness of life. He’d be given a reason to live. What was it mean to live anyway? Roxas clenched his left hand into a fist. This was getting stupid.

...Well, it was worth a shot anyway.
Dib looked over at Roxas. "Hey, do you know some dude named Riku? Or maybe a girl named Kairi and a... um..." He peered at the name on the screen. Was this "Sora" a guy or a girl? Dib couldn't tell from the name alone. "... Or a person named Sora?" he finished finally.

"... Or a person named Sora?" Sora? There was a sharp pang in the Nobody's non-existent heart. Sora! For once, a feeling of excitement was overflowing him. None of it was apparent on the outside... but the other boy... Sora... Sora... The Nobody felt alive more than ever. Of course he knew that there were possibilities of Sora being here but for some reason, the fact that Dib mentioned Sora to him was fascinating. Was Sora really at Paixao? If he was, then Roxas might meet him under the right circumstances—
Without thinking or asking the large-headed boy how he knew of Sora, Roxas looked at Dib straight in the eye and blurted out, "Where is Sora?"
no subject
"Hold on a sec," he said, holding up one hand. "Let me see where they are. Then you and Sora can get back together." Maybe Sora was Roxas's girlfriend or something? It would explain why he seemed so intent on finding her.
no subject
"Alright." So. He really might meet Sora. Plans were going better than they should have: it was suspicious. Or wait: maybe the Organization had a way of intercepting messages? Then he might be found before he got to Sora. Roxas bit his lip. Even the simple act of communication might be something to be worried about.

He hoped there weren't any Nobodies around Niflheim.

Niflheim. That's what Dib said: Sora was in Niflheim. That was just north of here... If he teleported, it couldn't take more than several minutes to find him. The Nobody's non-existent heart skipped a beat. Several minutes... That would mean that he'd have to formulate a plan (1) right now, (2) while travelling, (3) just go with the flow. The third couldn't possibly go well... maybe he'd do a combination of the first and second...
Maybe there would be Nobodies in Niflheim, but really, that would be no problem to him. Sora could take care of himself, and if the keyblade master couldn't well... then the Thirteenth would probably try to do something about it himself. A plan began to rapidly formulate within the blonde. Anyhow... when he reached Sora, opposing Dusks would be the least of Sora's worries.
