Under Attack [Complete]

Character(s): Akira, The Lone Power, and some nosy Dusks
Content: With Nobodies on the prowl, Akira takes shelter in the Irelia Apartments II. Coincidently, this is where the Lone Power is staying.
Setting: The area around and in Irelia Apartments II
Time: mid-morning
Warnings: Some language, violence.

The city was far too unfamiliar, and he had little idea of where he was heading. It was so far removed from the beaten, broken shells of buildings in AREA:RAY that it was an alien world entirely. Someone wickedly wealthy must be behind Igura to put on this type of show.

No corner of the city was empty. There were people everywhere, the vast majority of them blonde, blue-eyed, and very tagless. It was a relief to be away from competition, but at the same time, no competitors meant no tags. How was he supposed to get supplies at this rate? How was he going to get those full houses? Maybe he’d found this place before it was ready to be opened to the Igura populace. Maybe that’s why everything was unready. There weren’t even plants here. Even the grass shone like diamonds and emeralds. Probably just a stand-in until the real deal arrived.

Akira was alone with his thoughts, though, focused mainly on getting away from that little gathering at the Muspelheim gate. He’d run into everyone – well, most everyone – that he didn’t want to see. And that creepy smile Shiki wore… hopefully in a city of this size, they’d never meet again.

Some of the streets or back alleys were reminiscent of the world he knew, and he stuck to those mainly. It was too weird out on the main drags, where everyone dressed weird and smiled and there were buildings decorated so much they were like candy houses. No. He wouldn’t walk there. Turning a corner into another back alley, Akira heard a sound so strange he couldn’t place it. He looked up to see a group of people blocking the other end of the alley. People…? The more he stared at them, the more they didn’t look like people. They contorted at odd angles. And he’d never seen people with heads like those. It was bizarre. They didn’t make people sounds either.

What the fuck was Igura trying to pull now? The things had no tags, yet they were advancing on him. If they didn’t have the tags, and if they weren’t people, Akira wasn’t going to waste his time on them. He rolled his eyes and turned his back on them. No sooner had he done that, he was on the ground, on his back. One of the things had pulled him down so fast it made his head spin. It was bending over him now, to do who knew what. Akira went with his instincts and kicked at the thing. It dodged and bought him enough time to scramble to his feet. If they wanted some, he could give it to them! His knife was in his hand and he struck out with it.

He could have been mistaken, but it seemed like the thing was laughing at him. The knife drew no blood on the one, or the other. They still came. He had to get out of there, as fast as he could. He hadn’t been prepared for this! He backed off, slicing out with the knife to keep them at bay. He glanced around the area, trying to see if there was any cover or shelter where he could regroup.

He saw a building to his left that would do. It looked like some kind of apartment building, if one could call it that. The door looked easy enough to break down. He could jimmy the lock if need be. Either way, he ran as fast as he could from the white-people-things and took off for that building. There were other people around, and they screamed when they saw the creatures.

Akira rammed his shoulder against the building’s door in his haste. He tried the knob, which thankfully was open, and he ducked inside the building, hurriedly shutting the door behind him. There was a lock on the door and he bolted that sucker, hands shaking with adrenaline. From there, he kept low and made his way along the wall to peer out the nearest window. Apparently the screams had distracted the weird bendy people and they were now being attacked instead of pursuing him.

He relaxed then, sitting down on the floor right there in relief. He was sheltered now, thankfully. What the fuck were those things, anyway? Looking around the room, it appeared to be a small lobby. There was a desk to one side and a few chairs and a table on the other. Maybe it was an apartment building, then. There was no one around, though, so it was very quiet. It was a good place to rest and get his bearings again.
