This isn't home, but... [completed]

Characters: Latias
Content: Typical Paixao entering stuff. Also very very slight Nobody encounter.
Setting: Muspelheim Gate
Time: Early afternoon

The young dragon looked at her current surroundings, wondering how in the world she'd gotten to here. "La~?" came the questioning sound as she slowly floated around. This definitely wasn't Altomare. This was like the exact opposite of the city she'd grown up in - Altomare was full of water, while this place was dry as anything. As well, whatever foliage was around here didn't look quite like it should.

It was eerily quiet around here, and somewhat cold as well; a chill went through Latias' body. She found herself missing her brother even more than usual at the moment; the void that had already been left in her mind by his disappearance seemed to weigh down even more on her as she took in the sight of this strange place. Wish you were here, you'd be nice company right now...

But she wasn't one to be kept down for too long. Her eyes caught sight of the golden-flamed gate up ahead, eliciting a whistle of surprise from her. Her bird-like form shimmered for a moment and then disappeared, replaced by something totally different - the form of a young girl. Where there were gates, there were bound to be people; she might as well try to blend in. Seeing the booth by the gate, she went up to there and peered in, starting back in mild surprise when she realized that there was already somebody in there!

It was the boothkeeper, of course. "What are you doing here?" he asked the girl. "Don't you know it's dangerous to stay around outside here?"

Latias said nothing, but her gaze flitted around. While this place was all sorts of odd to her...she didn't see anything dangerous around? She stared at the man, giving him a questioning glance.

"Well, whatever, let's make this quick. Your name is...?"

Latias blinked, and a few moments of silence were born from there as she decided to take this time to look around some more. The man fidgeted nervously, and then jumped up and hurriedly grabbed something, shoving it into Latias' hands.

Latias very nearly dropped it at first, but once she had a definite grip on it she held it tightly.

"Never mind then. Here's your journal, use it for whatever, now get out of here!" he snapped, hurrying out of sight.

Latias stood there, stunned at the man's sudden gruff tone. She suddenly understood the reason for it a moment later when she saw the strange gray creature standing a few feet away. She got the shivers just by looking at it, and gasped; not being able to help herself, she ended up running away through the gate, her new journal clutched tightly against her chest.
