Rei watched the girl with her good eye while lightly running her fingers over her bandaged one. The commander had trained her well in what kind of people to avoid, and she found that this girl should be avoided. She was unpredictable and unstable, yet Rei had just agreed to follow her and Death. She failed to see the irony in that, too busy justifying her choice. Helping the Second might mean finding the commander. He could forgive her, couldn't he?

She would ask the Second how she knew her later, if she were more coherent. Rei didn't know anyone her age. It would be interesting to see how others like her - in the piloting aspect, at least - would normally act.
