“I doubt you could get this group to agree on some food, Larxene,” Xaldin replied. “At the least, everyone agrees they like to drink.”

It got better every moment. Zexion sat alone, sulking like a child. Luxord was still the arrogant brat of the group. How he deserved, how he needed a good, sharp punch in the face! Xaldin would love to give it to him, but not here in the restaurant. Some sense of decorum needed to be preserved. Undoubtedly Luxord and Larxene were going to get smashed. Wonderful. Xaldin would not be joining them on that route. Of course he’d enjoy drinking the alcohol, but he wouldn’t get blitzed the day before meeting with Superior. Showing up with a hangover to that meeting would merit undoubted punishment.

Xaldin let Luxord’s rudeness die without a response, and instead reached for the most dignified drink on the table – wine. Wine was a noble’s drink, and it wouldn’t make one drunk unless one overdid things. The waiter had brought a carafe of a beautiful burgundy, which Xaldin helped himself to. The wine would ease the pain of being with such base neophytes. His one comrade was nearly pouting away, so he would have to either ignore the others or do damage control.

Knowing them, it’d certainly be the latter. At least the wine was delicious.
