“Glad to hear it.” Marianne smiled proudly. “You will not find any better or more welcoming house than my own. Speaking of me, my name is Marianne. What do you go by, dear?”

David started getting antsy. His countdown to being bad timer had run out, and he started pulling on his mother’s skirt. “Moooooom, why are you taking the weird girl home?” he whined, shuffling and being a general pain.

“Because you are a very bad boy, David,” Marianne replied. “You almost hit an innocent girl with your ball. Oh no, David, don’t do that again.”

David pouted and ran ahead of his mother a little bit. True to form, he punted his ball away again and took off like a pint-sized rocket.

“I swear that boy is going to be the end of me. His sister was so much easier to raise,” Marianne sighed. “Anyway, miss, you did say you had no place to stay. After you get something warm into your system, you’re welcome to rest the night in our guest bedroom. There will be lots of warm blankets and no one will bother you.” Marianne hated for anyone else to see she was a bad mother, and this was her way of making sure the strange girl stayed on her good side. “We’re almost there. We will be turning up the next street and my home is the third on the right.”

[OOC: I suck for not getting this up last night. :P]
