"What if I'm not the same person anymore?"

That single question had echoed in the Nobody's thoughts without end. Every time he saw Ven, saw how happy he was, it had only reminded Roxas of his own confusion. Would this really give him the answers he wanted?

That moment with the Doctor, on the beach, was still so clear to him. The Doctor had been able to see everything, except what Roxas couldn't remember himself. But all those feelings were still there. It had hurt so much. Was this...was this really going to be worth it?

Fear suddenly gripped him as Naminé started. His heart raced, his mind overloaded with more questions, more worries. He couldn't remember ever being so scared before.

Images flew through his head faster than he could see, or even think. Black coats, Keyblades, Heartless, Nobodies, Kingdom Hearts...Xemnas. Xemnas. The leader of the Organization.

That gave way to a picture of a clocktower in a quiet town, just at sunset. Axel was there, and Xion...and Roxas was sitting between them. All three of them were wearing the black coat that marked them as members of the Organization, and all three were holding a sea-salt ice cream bar in their hands. They were laughing, and Roxas shoved Axel's arm away with a big smile. He remembered wishing that would last forever...

But no one had ever told Roxas what was going to happen. No one ever told him anything. Not even Axel, his best friend.

Those "devices" Saix told him to plant...they were all part of it. They didn't want Roxas, or Xion. All they wanted was a Keyblade. Roxas was just a useless tool...Xion was just a puppet. They...they turned her into a monster, just so they could get what they wanted! Why did they have to fight? Why did...

As the last of his memories came back, Roxas fell to his knees. He remembered now, what it was that had hurt so much. Xion...she had...disappeared...right in his arms. They took her away from him! She was all he had left!

"XION!"

The scream echoed through the empty halls, out into the streets. Beams of light formed in a ring around Roxas, shooting straight into the sky, all the way to the top of the city's domes. His body rose into the air, and in each hand a Keyblade appeared.

With a final shout, the columns of light suddenly exploded outward. The Keyblades began to spin, sending blasts of light careening in all directions, as more massive light beams rained down from the heavens.

Tears streamed down Roxas's cheeks as he screamed at the top of his lungs, finally releasing all the emotions that had lain forgotten in the depths of his heart.

Riku had expected the influx of memories to be painful. Xion’s mere presence had stirred his own heart violently. It hurt. And he could recall when the very memories of Xion were slipping away. It hurt too. He could only imagine the turmoil raging inside of Roxas. The initial scream came to little surprise from the silver-haired youth. The light beams, however, did.

He had seen something like this before at Memory's Skyscraper. It was bad news. And this looked worse. Riku raised his Keyblade, hoping distance and Dark Shield would be enough. He couldn’t back down.

And when Xion moved closer, Riku's eyes widened, and he threw his own defense out the window.

"NO!!!" As the blast of light rushed them, Riku rushed in front of Xion, using his larger body to protect hers. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and held her face to his shoulder. His own head he lowered as best he could, holding it above Xion's shoulder as his long hair began to fly backwards. He timed Dark Shield perfectly. Riku couldn't have expected better from himself. But timing or not, Roxas's power unleashed like this was too much. The Nobody's light cut first through his darkness and then into him. He felt his feet slide along the ground as the blast impacted, pushing both him and the Replica away. Riku's grunts of pain quickly gave way to a cry of agony as he wrapped himself tighter around her.
